Miss Wellington, Priyani Puketapu, was crowned Miss Universe New Zealand a short while ago. She is 20 years old and stands 5ft8. On September 12, she will try to become the 60th Miss Universe in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The runner-up was Miss North Harbour, Talia Bennett. Miss Howick, Courtney Ramsdale, was third. Isabelle Pearson and Nancy Yan completed the top 5.

Priyani Puketapu, Miss New Zealand 2011

Not this year for New Zealand. She pales in comparison to last year’s stunner. I don’t think she she stands a chance at Miss Universe. The runner-up was robbed big time.

The Miss Bahamas pageant takes place tonight at the Altantis Paradise Island Resort. 14 young ladies will compete for the chance of representing the Bahamas at the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants later this year. Last year’s winner was gorgeous Braneka Bassett who made the 25 at Miss World 2010. If I were a judge:

She was Miss Florida Teen USA, Miss Florida USA, and she was the first runner-up of Miss Bahamas last year. It’s safe to say she REALLY wants this title.
